My first question in this photo is what is the book that the 2 men are huddled over? From looking closely at the photo, I have a good idea that that book is the bible. It looks to me like the men have been through some rough times and are looking to their god or higher up to help them in their time of need. This picture makes me question a lot more things because it has the black and white look to it. I am going to go off on a limb and say that the two men are hard workers because when you look closely at the men's bodies you will see the constant veins that are coming out of their bodies. This is why I am assuming that they are going through rough times at work and that's why they are praying for some help to come their way sometime soon. I think that they are hard workers with the veins sticking out because based on my own experience of working on the farm at home I have found that the more I work, time-wise, I find the veins in my own body coming out. I also find them stre...

Richard Kagan

Image
The person that I chose to discuss this weeks blog on was Richard Kagan. Richard does alot of photography and it is all very interesting but the best thing that caught my attention was the collection of iron portraits that he made. This is the first picture that really caught my attention. What made this catch my attention is that I had no idea what this was until I looked at the title of it. I really like how he uses a black background with a little lighting on it to create that erie creepy mood. This is the kind of picture that makes me think of a horror movie. It makes me think of a horror movie because most time in a horror movie when someone has to pick up a phone there is normally a jumpscare coming. I also really like this photo for the idea of the object looking so old and preserved. I like the idea of older objects that were a part of history so this was a perfect picture to make me think of the old times and what phones back in the day were compared to the ones that we h...

Lee Friedlander

Image
Lee Friedlander was born in Washington on July 14, 1934. He began photographing in 1948.  "He made many images funny and poignant images among the chaos of city life, dense natural landscape, and many other objects." He is known for also liking to take pictures in the street using shadows to his advantage. He took lots of pictures of people, signs, cars, and of himself standing in front of store windows. He did this because when he did he was able to catch the light at a perfect time creating these perfect shadows in pictures.  Lee takes this very simple image and provides an instant question for me? My question was what was the point of this photo? After sitting for a couple minutes, I generated the idea of this picture that he is leaving his house and moving on to the future. When you watch movies, you will see a lot of scenes where people are looking out of a window, and you see their past slowly fading away in the mirror this is the kind of vibe I get f...
